Japanese Wood Figures, 2 Gods of Fortune, Meiji?

NAME: Japanese wooden figures of Ebisu and Daikokuten of the 7 Gods of Fortune fame, wood box

MAKER: unknown

SIZE: 1-1/2", lacquered wood stand is 4-1/4 x 2-1/4"

CONDITION: excellent.

NOTES: Very fine, painted detail. Ebisu and Daikokuten are often paired as they both represent fortune and prosperity.

This came out of a doll engineer's family "treasure house". He thought they could be as old as Meji period (1868-1912). The kiri wood (paulownia) box style could have been from then but there is no way to confirm this. Most definitely would be prewar.
